Our Latest Work

Hi everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve posted what we’ve been up to so I’ll fill you all in on the beautiful kitchens and baths we’ve been working on lately.

First up is a beautiful lake home that shows off it’s rustic-meets modern oak cabinets and quartz counters.

The quartz is Pompeii, Sunny Pearl, from UMI stone. It has pieces of reflective seashells embedded into the stone which complement the crystal knobs. The espresso wood floors anchor the space.

Since the cabinets add a busy element to the kitchen, the homeowners chose to continue the quartz up the backsplash to simplify the look.

Next, we installed pristine Venetino Marble in this fresh white-on-white kitchen.

The appliances were brought in just prior to install. Look at the gorgeous shine on these crisp white counters.
20151024_145332The full-height backsplash and dramatic gray veining add movement and dimension to the otherwise stark kitchen.

The cherry island mixes it up a bit.

This next kitchen proves that you don’t have to sacrifice style or glamour on an outdoor kitchen. We went with an untraditional glass mosaic backsplash.
IMG_0426You normally see this tile stacked parallel with the counters, but standing it on end draws the eye up, making the space appear larger, and almost gives it a cascading effect.

My favorite so far out of our recent work would have to be the kitchen in Centaurian Gold Quartzite. What is quartzite you ask? It’s a naturally forming stone that has the durability of marble, but many of the visually appealing characteristics of marble.
IMG_0265IMG_0266I LOVE this color! We often do different backsplashes than full height, but these colors are all too beautiful not to show them off! To transition from under the cabinets to the countertop we went with a double bevel wave.

I hope you enjoyed our latest projects and they inspire you in your next remodel!

The saying, “First impressions matter,” was proven again when member Jeanne L. visited Stone Saver to price a granite countertop for the guest bathroom at her home in Wesley Chapel.

“Although we wound up not doing the work, we were totally impressed with them,” she says in a Page of Happiness-nominated review.

So instead of making a $1,000 sale, the company sold Jeanne $6,000 worth of granite countertops for her kitchen.

Jeanne says Stone Saver postponed the measuring area until her new sink, faucet, and cooktop arrived, and delivered the countertops exactly when they promised.

“We have a very angled kitchen and a large pony wall. We wanted the same look with the new granite,” Jeanne says. “They suggested fabricating one piece for the pony wall and we agreed. It came out perfect.”

“We are very happy with the results would certainly recommend Stone Saver for any project we may consider in the future.”

Want White Marble, But Have The Durability of Granite?

We have a solution for you! Anytime I come across another alternative to White Carrera Marble, or a white marble in general I try to share it with you. Although white marble is beautiful, it is generally not suitable in a kitchen. Any time you spill something acidic, or that has color to it, expect to treasure that memory forever as a nice stain or etch in your countertops. That sure doesn’t sound appealing to most folks after spending a few thousand dollars on new counters, so here is a beautiful alternative. White River Granite.

I love this look! It’s nearly impossible to find granite that is white, but White River comes pretty darn close. It makes for very clean lines and in this case compliments the beige floor tiles. White marble would have clashed.

The under cabinet lights illuminate those otherwise dark spaces on either side of the refrigerator. To define the individual spaces, the same tile was used on the floor as the backsplash, but in two different patterns and slightly different sizes.
Here is another view of the backsplash. I love it because most people think that you have to use small tile on a backsplash, but large tiles look equally great! The range hood is jazzed up by the copper, marble, and stone mosaic.

Modern Mansion

Check out this beautiful Indian influenced modern mansion! This home was a brand new build in Odessa with granite and tile installations and products from yours truly, Stone Saver Inc.

Just a few details short of being move in ready, hence the painters tape
still in place, this is the first view you take in as you enter the
home. Beautiful cutouts in a Taj Mahal styling and detailed scrollwork climbing the stairs and upstairs hallway.

As you get closer, you can see the details on the iron work, and the
inlaid tiles on the cutouts. Very small chocolate tiles on the inset,
and mother-of-pearl toned mosaics jazz up the neutral color scheme. The
homeowner will be adding their own lights where you see the caps now.
The kitchen has been outfitted with Ruby Blue granite with an ogee edge. The backsplash is tumbled marble inlaid with Landmark Metal-Coat tiles. A custom made tile mural highlights the sink area. I just love the modern pendants the homeowner chose.
The opposite side of the kitchen with matching faucet for the prep sink. The photo didn’t come out as clearly as I’d like, but the doors entering the kitchen are truly something to be admired.
We’re now led upstairs to the master bathroom that has been outfitted with Imperial Sand granite with a complementing Rojo Alacante marble backsplash.
Upon closer inspection, you can see what a big difference lighting at different times of day can do. The granite appears very pink in darker lighting, but only slightly so without shadows being cast on it.
White Carrera marble floors add to the bath’s polished appearance.
The upstairs guest bath with Ruby Blue granite tops, but this time with a half bullnose edge.
Inside the shower of the guest bath. Brick-laid marble-look tiles with a glass mosaic listello compliment the counters on the other side of the privacy glass shower door.
I could end this article without featuring the ornate fireplace surrounded by Black Absolute granite. It really is something to be admired as the photo doesn’t do it justice.

Custom Mural featuring Landmark Metal Coat Tiles

It isn’t often that we are lucky enough to have the opportunity to create custom designs, but we love doing it! We had a request from a customer that really wanted something one-of-a-kind for the backsplash behind their range and the end result is truly a work of art! The below mural includes varying colors of marble and travertine individually pieced together and set by hand. The focal point and corner tiles are from one of our favorite custom lines, Landmark MetalCoat.

The remaining bare walls will be covered with tumbled marble when finished.

We love Landmark because of their versatility and unique designs. They manufacture metal tiles that are actually treated with a living finish, which means it will age naturally over time. It is extremely durable and can withstand freezing and thawing conditions and will not flake or chip over time. Any tile they manufacture can be produced in any type of metal or finish so it is completely customizable as seen here:

Here are some other featured installations. This tile can be used practically anywhere; wet or dry, as well as hot or cold temperatures.

Here the medallions were matched to the tub faucet.

Interior shower wall.

The Neptune fountains as well as the medallions are both Landmark.

More information can be found on the Landmark MetalCoat website here. Stone Saver is an authorized retailer. Stop on by the showroom to see it in person!

White on White Kitchens

The trend sweeping the nation and our number one request at Stone Saver is for white on white kitchens. I’ve scoured the internet for some of the most striking examples and wanted to share some inspiration with you. The beauty of white on white is that it is incredibly versatile and can please a wide variety of personal styles.

This classic kitchen appears to have quartz as the countertop accented with a tumbled marble back splash and contrasting stone listello running through it. White bead board paneling on the front of the high bar add to the classic look.

A full height quartz backsplash and counter create a very clean contemporary feel in this freshly designed kitchen. Under cabinet lighting also adds to the airy feel.
This contemporary kitchen capitalizes on clean lines. The flooring appears to be a vinyl plank, suitable for potential spills and dirt likely to be tracked in from the outside. Light gray backsplash tile adds a subtle contrast to the stark white quartz countertops.
This kitchen is more of an off white with an Old World style reminiscent of an Italian kitchen. Tumbled marble backsplash accented with a darker pencil liner with small ciche tiles break up the monotony of the backsplash and highlight the range. The counters appear to be granite, which is about as “white” as granite gets.
These are actually two different kitchens with a very similar feel. The kitchen to the left has a vinyl plank flooring with a quartz counter and matching full height backsplash. To the right, a wood-look tile with a hand scraped appearance compliments the dark island and marble or quartz island countertop. Light green glass backsplash tiles add depth.

I made some assumptions about the countertop materials in these photos and many appear to be quartz, but could be marble. We don’t recommend marble as a suitable kitchen material because it stains and etches (loses it’s shine) easily with everyday kitchen activities. The best alternatives to marble to still get that white appearance would be quartz, although we have found a material called Vermont Danby that is a marble, but is resilient to stains and etching similar to quartz. I hope you enjoyed these kitchens and stop into our showroom soon so we can help you design your dream space! Please feel free to contact us with any questions!

Contemporary Bathroom Remodel

Check out this beauty! This master bath started with typical builder-grade white tile and after gutting all the existing tile and shower you would never know it spent the first half of it’s life as a plain Jane!
Keep moving along folks… nothing to see here! This bathroom has great potential to become something to admire, but right now it’s as common as sweet tea in the South.

Now the fun begins. Demo time!
Aside from the layout being the same this doesn’t even look like it’s the same bathroom! Modern gray porcelain tile resembling sedimentary rock, set in a brick lay pattern create a soothing atmosphere. A smoke glass listello breaks up the space and compliments the tile floor.

We’ll be back next week with our most recent work. Hope to see you in the showroom soon!

Hallmark Hardwood Flooring

I’m excited to announce Stone Saver Inc. now carries a full line of engineered hardwood floors! Hallmark Hardwood Flooring manufactures and designs beautiful contemporary wood floors in a variety of species, textures, colors, and styles sure to match any design scheme. Although Hallmark manufactures solid wood flooring as well, we’ve chosen to carry engineered wood due to it’s better ability to withstand Florida’s high humidity levels. The National Wood Flooring Association explains this in further detail:

Engineered wood floors are real wood floors that are manufactured using three to nine layers of different wood veneers. The sub layers can be of the same species, or of different species. The grain of each layer runs in different directions, which makes it very stable. This means that the wood will expand and contract less than solid wood flooring during fluctuations in humidity and temperature. The top layer of engineered wood flooring consists of high-quality wood. While this type of flooring can be sanded and finished, it cannot be done as many times as solid wood flooring. Engineered wood flooring can be installed above, on or below grade.

Ideal for our climate, and prized for it’s durability, Hallmark offers dozens of beautiful options. True hand scraped, hand stained, longer board lengths, varying plank widths, and a 4mm wear layer that is much thicker than most competing flooring manufacturers set them apart from the rest. Although we carry over 30 varieties I wanted to show a few of my favorites:

White Plains

Silver Creek

Bathroom Remodels Before and After

We completed the remodel of these two bathrooms last November and I finally have the photos to show you! Like many of us with small bathrooms, you don’t need a large amount of square footage to make a bathroom feel spacious. Using appropriate color choices and visual techniques, we were able to enhance the open feeling of these spaces.
Master Bathroom Before
Master Bathroom Before

The homeowner was kind enough to provide us with “before” photos, but unfortunately I don’t have the opposite side of the master bathroom. Just picture the standard tub with shower curtain. Now… do you have that image in your head? Ok, continue scrolling and prepare to be amazed!
Tile with a lineal pattern running in a brick layout helps to visually stretch the shower area along with clear glass shower doors.

Niches were added to provide storage for toiletries. The green glass mosaic was purposely placed diagonal to the matching tile at the bathroom sink to draw the eye in opposing directions, giving the appearance of a larger space.
Taupe Light granite with green glass backsplash, which plays off the subtle green hue in the countertop.
The same tile applied to the walls in the shower were put on the floor.
Similar strategies were used in the half bath. As you can see in both rooms, these were completely

torn out and everything was replaced including the toilets and flooring. The “before” photos here:

Half Bath Before

Half Bath Before
I am absolutely in love with this bathroom! I appreciate the fact that the homeowner was brave enough to buck tradition and choose darker colors. We’ve all heard you should choose light colors to keep a space from feeling confined, but that really isn’t the case as long as you have enough lighting and contrasting hues.
Harvest Green granite with slate backsplash and espresso cabinets. The smoke vessel sink resembles a gem floating on top.
Tile flooring that resembles petrified wood planks.
